Hello everyone,
I'm raising my first 2 chickens ever since they were 2/3 weeks of age. A friend who hatched them herself feather sexed them at the first day but she is also new to this so was half guessing.
I have one barnevelder wich I'm 80% sure is a pullet.
The wyandotte chic in question developed already red waddles and a comb at the age of 4 weeks. Wich makes me believe its a Cockerell. I think s(h)e is big and has thick legs but I can only compare with the barnevelder but that's a smaller breed. Now at the age of 9/10 weeks s(he) looks like a miniature hen. S(he) doesn't show hackle of saddle feathers yet (but probably too early to tell?) S(h)e doesn't walk really high, it looks the same like the barnevelder. I dont have experience with roosters so diffucult to tell if s(h)e Is showing rooster behaviour, but from what I read I don't think so. S(h)e is the more brave of the 2.
I'm hoping is a hen that developed waddles early on 🙏 i read its possibles but think alot of guesses will go to rooster?
In the first picture she is about 4/5 weeks.
Thank you for taking a guess!
I'm planning to keep this thread updates with new pictures when s(h)e is older!

I agree, I think it’s a cockerel. But it has such nice lacing I can’t believe it’s not a pullet! I’m also surprised there aren’t any male specific feathers appearing, because with that amount of comb and wattle development I’d expect some. So there is a chance this is just a really fast maturing pullet.

That's what I'm hoping 🙏

UPDATE:
He is now 10/11 weeks and started crowing yesterdag. It sounded like someone is blowing on a kazoo or something lol.
Pictures for people who are also trying to guess the gender of their SL wyandottes. Still no typicall rooster feathers but he surely is a boy.

Interesting, it is pretty hen like. Although I can't see the face super well. Beautiful bird!

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. Their first crows are so hilarious, aren't they?

He sure is one gorgeous cockerel, I hope you can keep him.
