Hello all!! This is my very first post and am new to backyard chickens and chickens in general. Was wondering if anyone could help me guess the sex of my 4 week old araucana!!

Hi and welcome to BYC

The bird in your picture is not an Araucana, as that is a rumpless breed and the bird pictured very clearly is not rumples due to the fact that it is developing a nice tail. If the bird came from a hatchery or farm/feed store and was sold as an Araucana it is actually an Easter Egger. The EE is a mixed breed chicken that is created with the use of either Araucana or Ameraucana breeding - so, in theory, will lay colored eggs (because it is a mixed breed, though, this is not always a guarantee - which leads to yet another debate as to whether they are then even an EE or not, but that's a debate for another day

). At the end of the day, what attracts most people to these birds is the draw of the pretty eggs, so if that was what you are looking for you should still be quite pleased with your little EE. Anyway, this is a common issue - if you do decide you want true Araucanas in the future, just know that the only way to be sure of what you are getting is to work directly with a reputable breeder vs. a commercial source.
Can you get a nice, clear shot of the little one's comb area? If it is a pea comb the development there can be factored into gender guesses.

That is 100% and easter egger pullet.
I have an identical one. Exactly the same color.

You can tell because of the greenish feet. This is also a common color variation.

:)There are a couple hatcheries that are now selling true Amaracanas, one being Myers hatchery! :)

Absolutely - in fact I've provided the Meyer link myself in a couple of threads, but since OP was inquiring about Araucanas above I didn't really see it as being applicable to their situation.

Thank you for all the great information!! I am a complete novice to this whole thing ! I didn't know that they were not true araucanas as that's what they were sold as! Thank you for letting me know!
