General pigeon questions

I looked up those parakeets, and they are beautiful! And WAYYY out of my price range, at least the one I looked at was $2700.... But I really would like a pair of red goldens, or at least just a male. I would also like some mandarins, but don't want to have to deal with shipping a pair right now.

That price is way too expensive... perhaps they are a rare colour mutation or something. You can't really mix parakeets with pigeons.. as they will fight and injure each other.

Love birds are not too expensive.. and very colourful... and will be OK in the cold so long as they can get into frost free shelter. They breed like crazy and you could see the young.

I loved my kakariki parakeets. They were really lively and bright yellow and green.. and got really tame to sit on my shoulders and arm when I went into their aviary. They also breed really easily and don't mind the cold.

But I guess you would have to decide to keep parakeets or pigeons as they won't mix.

Yeah, that is what I thought.... I think for now I'll just stick with pigeons. There is someone that is 30 minutes away that is selling red golden chicks, so I might go and buy a pair.... With the mandarins... I can't find anyone in the area that has any birds... So that kinda sucks
