genetic 101 help please

is there a website or someplace to find out simple chicken genetics.
For example- I have a hen I really like the color of. She is beautiful, nice feathers, muff and beard, good shape.
However her egg is a bit boring buff color. I have tried to breed her to a double blue egg gene roo, but chicks never look like her.

How can I find out which genes are recessive and which aren't?

I'd get a notebook to tackle this one, if you're not familiar with genetics.

kippenjungle genetic calculator is also helpful, but read at least the theory of the other site first.
