I want to use the genetic calculator but it assumes that I know the gene code to plug in! I'm too new to know the color codes yet!

Of particuar interest is the FBCM and buckeye, and a few others. Is this listed somewhere?

I want to cross a marans with a SLW, what color is the egg? Half way between the marans and the SLW??

What if it's a cross between a white egglayer (SSH) and a pink egg laying EE? Or white egg layer and blue egg laying EE?

Thanks for your help !!!!

White egg x blue egg = light blue egg

White egg x pink egg = very very very light brown egg

Brown egg x dark brown egg = pumpkin paste orangey brown egg, often speckled

As for color, they're there on the Calculator, you just gotta either search in the list of illustrated colors on the pull-down chart (both SLW and Black Copper are indeed there) or put it in manually

Yes, you select the variety and it will generate the appropriate gene alleles. If you want, you can then alter some of them, but generally that is not necessary if the bird conforms to the variety.
