Pics would help, here is what you need to do to post pics https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=504

But
no, it is not possible to have a solid black barred rock, becuase barred is one color and black is another, but it is possible to have a black rock. Plymouth Rock, is the breed, its just different color varieties.

So if your bird is solid black, then no, its not a barred rock and may not be a black roo as they are pretty rare too. So what else can you tell us about where you got it and what possible crosses it could be ?

Yep - I don't think it's genetically a "Silver Partridge" - it's silvery and partridgey-patterned though, so I'm throwing it around as a descriptive term!

Here's one of mine at 5 weeks old (I couldn't find any earlier pictures):

I think they're going to be just stunning! I'm holding onto both of them, and keeping them in my bachelor pen.

Hey RareRoo....We Origionally got 6 chicks at a chicken swap here in NH..in pairs from 3 different vendors..We got 2 EEs they were 3 weeks old,,,,2 Barred Rocks supposedly they were 3 days old and 2 partridge cochins also 3 days old....we later ended up getting 3 silkies the same age as the youngsters 1 lavender and 2 blues I think...We are hoping all are hens but hard to tell.....Will post pics after I get the kiddos to bed here in a bit...TY

So here is a pic I took last week of eash of our chickens. I am new to this whole chicken farming thing so I know with the exception of the silkies not sure...the rest are supposed to be hens. But can anyone tell by looking at these pics????

ANASTASIA lighter Partridge Cochin

Bigfoot the largest Silkie os Far thinking she is a blue?
58409_chicken_litlle.jpg

Our other little Partridge Cochin the loudest in the group
58409_hilda.jpg

Hilda is a very quite little silkie likes to be held....My Niece actually is her "Mommy and is convinced she is going to be a show chicken.
58409_katie.jpg

Katie the supposed Barred Rock that is refusing to get Speckels
58409_polyanna.jpg

Little Polyanna the smallest of all and we are thinking a lavender silkie..

RAINBOW MY PERSONAL FAVORITE she seems to be an EE I don't know if her coloring has a special name or not. Hoping she is a hen.
58409_sarah.jpg

Here we have Sarah the barred rock who looks like a barred rock...
58409_shirly.jpg

Here is Shirley Temple she is an EE and has a triple comb if any are roosters she is the most suspicious.

OK Katie is not a barred rock and right now I cant really tell what it is, just some black breed.

Sarah does have barring and look like a barred rock and has the female barred coloring, but has an awful big comb for a pullet.

And I do think Shirley Temple is a roo.
