Genetic refresher course needed on blues.

Ok, I order some Ameraucanas (sp?) and I'm suppose to be getting black and blues. Given this information, what will the offspring color variations be.

If you are just breeding blues to blacks or blues to blues:
blue to black = 50% blue and 50% black
blue + blue = 50% blue, 50% splash

Then if you breed any resulting splash birds:
splash + blue = 50% splash, 50% blue
splash + black = 100% blue
splash + splash = 100% splash

Since you are getting birds, I assume you are wanting to know what they will be, not what their offspring will be? And for that you'll need to know the numbers and colours of their breeder birds.

If they have a flock that is mostly splash with just one or two blues & blacks, the numbers of each colour produced will be very different than if they have a flock that is mostly black with one or two blues & splashes.

Actually, the blacks will not be carrying the blue gene. The blues will be Blbl; the blacks will be blbl.

So, if you look at the black to black, black to blue and blue to blue references above you'll have your predictions for each pairing.
