Genetics of vaulted skulls

Hello everyone,

I have Silkies from several different show quality lines including Bobbi Porto, Catdance, and several others. About 50-75% of them have vaulted skulls. Someone told me once that if you breed vaulted skulls to vaulted skulls, it is lethal in a double dose. Is this true? Does anyone know what the genetics behind vaulted skulls are? Thanks!

No, it is NOT lethal. Hutt's Genetics of the Fowl discusses cerebral hernia (the scientific name for a vaulted skull) on pages 127-128.
