I don't know why the use of incubators came into play here? No one said using incubators is wrong, nor hatcheries. I'm just stating that hatcheries don't always, in fact many are known to likely not have common breed traits, such as five toes or good weight. Of course, everything originates somewhere, good or bad, that's to one's opinion, I'm just stating facts to further help the understanding in why or why not a trait may or may not pop up in breeding.

As for example - a hatchery Polish naturally often has a smaller crest than non-hatchery stock, thus you can end up with crossing them to another breed and getting no crest at all, as I've received quite a few times, but most of the time, especially from certain hatcheries, I get a small crest. (one allele)
 
@Larry I agree. I simply started this thread to get an understanding of what I might hatch. This is my first time with an incubator, and was just curious what some might think I would hatch. I did not expect to get a "Hatchery 101" speech........
