which of these do you think is more docile and friendly, a easter egger or a barred rock

Both are, usually. I have both BRs, EEs as well as Ameraucanas. It's more of an individual thing than a breed thing. I would call both friendly, but neither one is a pushover.

I am on the fence as well. I got a few of each for that reason lol. My first chickens ever were Barred Rocks, and I fell in love with them. This is my first time with EE's but I haven't been dissapointed yet

I will always have BR in my yard though, they are just great all around birds, and mine were "LAYING THROUGH THE SNOW" kinda hens, everyday lol.

I'm not going to be of any help to you. I have two of each breed and have one friendly EE and one skiddish EE, one friendly BR and one skiddish BR. I think they both tend to be friendly breeds, but it'll vary between each individual bird.

barred rock would be the one I choose. Both are sweet, but personally I feel my BR are sweeter.
