Germ-X vs. hand washing

Hi! We don't have so many *funky* things other folks have to deal with.
We use soap --- just soap --- mostly homemade soap --- and have to search for things that aren't *anti-bacterial*.
Many bacteria are my friends...

Hand washing, with ordinary soap. It removes the dirt and germs, rather than killing them. There's a chance that anti-bacterial soap helps lead to super bugs, so I avoid that. If my hand s were really badly soiled, like when working in the chicken coop or after cleaning the cat box, or anything else especially icky or germ laden, I wash, scrubbing under and around nails with a brush, rinse well, and wash again. I also worked in health care for years, and the Germ-X and other sanitizers, IMO, are not all that great. Better than nothing, in situations where you can't wash your hands.

I am also a nurse(in a nursing home) but our infection control committee has now changed our policy and states that hand sanitizer is the way to go as it is actually less drying than soap and water.
To the OP... regarding not get chicken poop off, hand sanitizer is not meant for visibly soiled hands. If you can see dirt/poop or anything visible then you should be washing in soap and water.
