Get me a thimble

I dont buy the walmart style I get the ones from a farm supply or western store. 35$ to 40$ but they are the only ones that fit my lack of a back side. I dont mind paying for them because i get 10 years out of them. Talking about the cost of clothes. Its stupid what some stuff cost. I actually havent bought shirts in years. Ive got a friend who is my size. His wife cleans out closest every couple years and usually gives me a couple bags of shirts.

When I can't get to a drastic hole the way I want to...

--I take the side seam out of the leg so I can lay it flat and work comfortably
--Fix the damage
-- Re-sew the seam I ripped out (for quality jeans you might want to get some "upholstery"or "jeans" thread from the store)
-- Remember to set your stitch length a little longer and adjust your tension if it needs it for the heavier thread
-- I also usually have to fix a small portion of hem from ripping out the side seam.

Or I hand sew difficult spots.

I repair jeans for DH quite often, but I don't do well with a sewing machine, so I sew them by hand. Usually by the time the rest of the jeans have fallen apart, the repair that I made is still going strong.

Note, however, that I did not claim my repairs were pretty. They're not. But they do the job!
