Getting a 6+ month old chicken - Can they still be tamed?

I am planning on getting a 6 month or older chicken (preferably a Buff Orpington). I have read reviews and comments that a chicken should be acquired at a few weeks old for proper taming, rather than at an older age. Is this true? I would like to get a chicken that is already full grown. I am looking to tame a chicken to become my lap pet. Would getting a 6 month or older Buff Orpington be a bad decision?

As long as the chicken has a decent temperament, you will be fine. I got my girls at 8-10 months old and they are perfectly happy friendly girls. They were not handled much before I got them. But they happily let me pick them up, hold them, and follow me all about the run. I've only had them a month.

yes you can I got already grown chickens but it takes a little to tame them but they will now come up to my feet. hope this helps

I've only had my 6 month olds for a few weeks. They don't run from me but only because they know I have food. Not having any part of being picked up though. Not that I really want to pick them up and pet them. I think if you are wanting a pet then I would recommend starting with younger chicks.
