I have a chick that I rescued and nursed back to health, she couldn’t walk for 2 months but is doing well now. I’d like to get her a buddy, and know of some 8week old Americauna chicks that will be available when they are 13 weeks old. My pullet is 16 weeks old, and will be 20 weeks by the time the Americanas are ready. I’m a first time chicken owner, and I’m curious if Americaunas are a good companion breed because of their smaller size, and also how I would integrate them together. I’m afraid my pullet would hurt the littler one. Any tips appreciated!
**Also, my pullet is a cross beak, so I don’t think she could do much damage with her beak, only feet

I wonder if EEs (Americaunas) are too flighty? mine tend to be very active. I feel like your special needs girl will be picked on no matter the age of her potential flockmates... so maybe you can just keep her in her own caged area with the other girls in the run and start the integration process. I think sooner or later you will need to work on integrating them, so why not start now!

I found a great thread on integrating solo pullets the other day.

And also this one on integrating the bullied pullet

I think that Buff Orpintons are the best! You may have other thoughts, but I have a few Buffs that are sure kind and the nicest addition to my flock!
I also found this on the internet-
Orpington Chickens are a friendly breed
Orpington Chickens are a friendly breed A hen of a docile breed, who is used to being handled, can become very tame and friendly. These are considered some of the best friendly fowl (and therefore mot suitable for children, too): Australorp. Barred Rock.

So that also supports my thoughts!
