Getting a Great Pyrenees

They are definately roamers! Mine will even try to wander off when we are all outside with her and the only way to get her back is to hop on the 4 wheeler and go get her....she loves to run beside the atv. We have ours on a long run between the coop and a big maple tree...shes perfectly happy and she comes in at night to sleep...when shes out durring the day the cats sleep in her dog hous with her. LOL she loves the kids and is a great pet. But yes they will take off the second they can.

The wireless fencing is a great and easy option to actual fencing. I've found that the wireless has a better charge and more reliable service than does the fencing that requires sinking a wire into the ground. My GP/mix dog was a wanderer of the worst kind until I got this fencing.

It can be expanded outward to include almost an acre of ground....more than enough to keep your flock under guard and still give your dog a good work out and an area to run. It took all of about 3 seconds to train my GP on the fencing and she had been tied up all her life also~who knows why?

No extensive training nor shaved neck required...actually, I barely even tighten the collar and she wears hers like a necklace instead of a collar.

Of course, my dog is a sissy when it comes to pain, so she is comparatively easier than a hard-headed dog. My other dog is a lab/BC mix and he trained in even less time~and he doesn't seem to feel much pain. I just put the collars on and let them try to casually cross the boundary~neither have ever done it again and we've had this system for over 4 years now.

Check your batteries frequently....a battery should last a couple of months.
