Getting a milking goat! Now what should I know?

I have never been butted by my goats. They are sweet gentle girls.

Davaroo most all of your posts will give me a chuckle.....now as for your personal page the trivia thing...that is great. I especially liked the photo copier fact.

Anyways about the goat, we have called for 2 days now and have yet to get a hold of some one about this goat! I think I will talk to my neighbor. He has a milking cow, I may try to make some cheese and yogurt from his milk first. Then I may try a goat. If we can not get a hold of any one I can't get the goat anyways.

My goats are sweet, also. But, they will get out and follow any truck that comes in the yard and leaves if they can. I had an orphan colt several years ago ( just days old) and borrowed a goat for a stable and pasture mate for him. They got along fine, but the first time we let them out the stall the goat just took off! Looking for the herd.
I would suggest that you go to www.fiascofarm.com and read their information. It is very comprehensive. If you get a wether for a companion for the doe, the wether will eat about a third less, and live as long or longer than a doe. And to keep the doe in milk, you are gonna end up having to breed her anyway, and that will generate....kids!
