Getting a pair of Button Quail .. have some questions!

Um, just a minute and I'll post a picture of their cage! Like I said before, I do not know how tame these birds are. I was going to get baby buttons, but they all died!!! So he said he only had this one pair left.

They don't need parakeet food, you can get them parakeet seed as a treat only, a few times a week. Only things parakeet-ish you need is cuttle bone and grit, but I strongly recommend getting a bag of play sand instead of parakeet grit, the sand will last longer, and they are exactly the same.

So when I go to the store I need:




1. Shavings
2. Grit
3. Cuttle Bone
4. Parakeet food if I wonna get any. Anything else?

I honestly can't tell how big it is, but it is probably fine for buttons. So you need to change your list to:

1. Shavings
2. Bag of play sand at Walmart or Lowe's
3. Cuttle bone
4. Parakeet seed (as treats only, not more than 2-3 times a week)

then you should be fine

I'd add a hamster water bottle to the list too, so you don't have to change shavings all the time when they spill their waterer.​
