When chicks are fed the medicated chick starter, does anyone know how long it takes the antibiotics to pass out of their systems?

Withdrawal time varies from antibiotic to antibiotic. Do a computer search on the specific antibiotic in your feed and you should be able to find the desired information.

Then what is the medication? I'm going to try my next batch of chicks on non medicated feed and see if its really needed.

typically, the additive is amprollium, a blocker, which slows the chick's exposure to cocci. It is not an anti-biotic.

If you ever experience coccidiosis you will learn that if you really needed it you REALLY needed it.

I agree with chickenjerk. We just finished a batch of CX birds and not happy with our decision of Non-medicated chick started, what a mistake for us. We lost 30 percent of the batch to Coccidiosis before we had it under control. Treated with Sulfmet, and then there is at least a ten day wait before you can process. Never again, and probably never again for the CX! Give me the more robust DP's.
