getting backyard chickens in vegreville alberta

I live in a small town in alberta canada called vegrville some of the time and i have chickens on the farm and would like to be aloud to have them here in town. Currently we are not aloud to have chickens here but I am thinking to make a petition to the town to reconsider it wondering if any body has some advice on what to do?
