Getting Cayuga Ducklings!!!!

I ordered from Metzers. They are beautiful. However, they shipped from California and I don’t think I would do that again. I would try to find a hatchery closer to where I lived so there’s less of a chance of them dying in transit. Also if a hatchery says “no local pickup available” it’s probably because they have another hatchery fill their order for them. So all that to say location location location. Getting dead ducks because some people in the USPS are a-holes is devastating.

That's my only concern about ordering from a hatchery, is what conditions the ducklings will be in when I get them. I'm hoping to find a hatchery close to me in Pa, I found a couple but they don't have the Blue Swedish or Cayuga, maybe I will do a road trip to Ohio!!!! It would be great if Tractor Supply had them but I don't think they get those breeds :idunno

That was definitely a concern of mine too ordering from a hatchery! All my babies came more than safe healthy and all alive! However it is worth noting i ordered from Meyer in Ohio and i live in Michigan so they got to my door less than 24 hours after shipment.
