Try using mealworms. My chickens now know the color of the container that I bring them in so when I am holding the container I don't even have to say anything and they all chase me around until I give them some. It is a little bit expensive considering the chickens eat them so fast off the ground it's hard to believe they were ever there. I am now raising my own mealworm colony because my girls love them so much... but before it was costing me $8 for 500mealworms... which only last a few days lol.
