Getting chickens into nursing homes

contact the nursing home that you have in mind. talk over your idea with the administration. then you will know exactly what will be required since the rules about visiting animals varies by state, county, city, and individual business.

I would second this suggestion. While I was in 4-H, one of our service projects was to take animals to the local nursing home. This was in a rural area, so all the people there grew up on farms. We took lambs, kids, rabbits, chickens...whatever we had. They always enjoyed our visits and would regale us with stories from their past. It was very enjoyable and I know that it brightened the residents' spirits. Call the nursing home and see what they say, I doesn't hurt to ask!

Is anyone worried about transmitting disease to the elderly in the nursing home from the chicks?
