Hi, I'm having trouble getting my chickens to go on the ramp down from their chicken coop. If you have any ideas please share them with me .
Thanks, bye

Try some treats or even just a bit of feed there if you haven't. Otherwise, just give them time. They are curious creatures and their curiosity will win out soon enough.

It's hard to answer your question without knowing a little more about your situation. Are they flying out or just not going out at all? Is your ramp slippery or too steep? If it seems dangerous to them they might be too scared to try it. I painted my ramp with a 50/50 mix of sand and paint to give them good traction.

How old are your chickens? Did you just put them in the coop for the first time? They might just need time to adjust and get brave enough to venture out. You could try luring them out with yummy treats (mealworms or fresh corn). Try leaving a trail down the ramp. If you can get the leader to try it the rest will follow!

Hope that helps!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Chickens don't like change, so if being let out is new to them it will take them a little while to get braver and start exploring, they should go a little farther every day, you might try also spreading treats form the ramp around the run or where ever you want them to go.

Kelsie X2 As they adapt, they will go further and further down the ramp or away from the coop. Let them decide on when and how far they want to go each day. Treats do help to lure them out, but they will get used to things eventually.

Enjoy your new flock and welcome to ours!

We're glad to have you. My chickens took a while to learn how to go down their ramp, but they all learned in the end!
