getting chicks! what should i use as bedding? [cheap]

Once the chicks are old enough....preferably out of the brooder....use straw.....it works well and when it gets wet in a certain spot you can just scoop it up and throw it outside in the compost

we use newspapers at first then after a few days switch to pine shavings

if you have an old towel that doesn't have any tears in it you could use that, same as someone using a t-shirt that was mentioned above.
