getting chinese geese..hows there temper?

I have toulouse and africans. they mix well with my swedes and mallard ducks..

in fact, a couple of the ganders took it upon themselves to raise a dozen goslings and 5 muscovy hatchlings.. they are about half grown and like one happy family..

Yes, I have two geese that part of our 30+ duck flock. My chinese will adopt my ducklings. While that is sweet, she is the LOUDEST animal in our barnyard~! She also doesn't like children and will definitely go after them with a vengence, everyone else she leaves alone.

I added 3 chinese goslings last spring and by fall I just couldn't stand the noise level and they ended up as soup.

My goose with her current ducklings.

They can be loud . My females never gave me/us a problem, but the gander did. Even so - I liked him. I found the trio a new home because I keep Roman Tufted and didn't want them to cross breed. I only have so much room so I opted for the RT's and Sebbies. All in all - I think geese are pretty neat.

africans and chinese do have a distinct call.. very shrill..

I live sort of isolated from neighbors so nobody is bothered by our noise..

I like the noise.. it brings the place to life.. I also have guineas chickens ducks and muscovys.

I think the ducks make the most noise..

I have a friend who keeps Chinese geese, goats, ameracaunas, and muscoveys. He keeps the chinese geese and goats together on pasture, and until recently he kept the muscoveys in there. But the geese boss everybody else around. He had to sell the ducks after one of them was severaly injured by one of the ganders. The geese are mean to the goats, and to anybody in their field, or anybody leaning on the fence...

that is funny, my muscovy is the boss of the yard.. I have 25 full grown geese mixed african and toulouse..

I saw the muscovy drake grab our blue healer dog by the tail and went dry land water skiing around the yard..

My geese so far are sweet but they are also immature. They run the yard all day and at night are housed with the chickens. They occasionally hiss and pinch one of the chickens and my rat terriers if they get too close but they never have gone after them just being mean. Most of the time they are pretty quiet but they will honk loudly when they see me outside and usually come running with their wings stretched out hoping it's time for bread. They run with my ducks and are a big happy family. We recently took the geese to a show and were gone with them most of the day. When we got home and let the geese loose the ducks came running and went through a long greeting ritual that I love to watch. They do very well together.

I did witness one of my drakes "goosing" my big barred rock rooster that was on the roost for the night. He just sneaked up behind him and goosed him. Needless to say the rooster jumped up in the air several feet and we all had a good laugh while the rooster was quite indignant about the whole thing!

I have two older chinese goslings and one toulouse. The chinese are brave compared to the toulouse! Also, I dont know if this is the norm, but the two of them are VERY loud.(though two totally different "voices" so I am hoping for one of each!)
