Getting dead rodent funk out of cars

OH and they perished after DH found the poop in there and flipped out--and put about 10 boxes of DECON all over my car...that did it...I went to flip down my glove box and rotting carcasses came dropping out in CHUNKS!

Needless to say I haven't had any dead ones lately but there's a design flaw in Toyotas that lets the rodents crawl into the cabin through the glovebox(they gnaw on the cabin air filters) and walk right in!

there's been some info on Toyota trucks on the web car sites. Mine is a 2000, predating the cabin air filters, which seem only to serve as a good catcher for the rodents. Apparently (and all this is gleaned from web forums) Toyota does not have a screen on the cabin air intakes. Some folks have gone in and put hardware cloth - 1/8 inch - in these areas. But it seems common. And my car insurance has a specific clause exempting the coverage for rodent damage, the (*&*)). Luckily, no wire chewed.

RareFeathersFarm, that's a rough image for this early in the morning! Gah! So how are the devils getting into the cab? Through the cowling air intake or into the cab through some other mystery opening?

Personally, as I see it, a pickup truck is a farm vehicle, and to not make that rodent proof is a serious design flaw. Engineers!
