getting first baby ducks

Came from tractor supply the guy said
What breed are they?

They look like mallards. Rouens and mallards look very similar at this age but an easy way to tell is that mallards have only one stripe on the sides of their heads and maybe a black dot under it. Rouens have two stripes.

I even looked them both up on Bing Finny and still didn't want to commit lol

Looks like my mallards a few months ago. My hen just started sitting on her clutch yesterday. Hope we have 12 more within a few weeks

In my opinion, size is the most reliable indicator. Rouens are MUCH larger than Mallards. I mean, look at these two... both mallards and the one on the right is only 1 pound bigger. A Rouen would easily be 4-5 lbs bigger.

I tried to find a picture online of a Mallard duckling next to a Rouen duckling and this was the best I could find. It just so happens to be from another thread on here.

So I'd say if your babies are tinier than most other ducklings, they are mallards. If they are the size of a Pekin duckling of similar age, then I'd say Rouen for sure.
