Getting girls to lay

So, my girls stopped laying around the beginning of October. This seemed to have coincided with a molt and an attack that took two of our ducks.

Everyone has their gorgeous new feathers. As to the emotions and attitudes in regards to reticence and fear, they seem to be well over that. They now venture into the yard in the dark and don't huddle against the backdoor anymore. They walk around the expanse of the backyard like they own it again.

When do you think they will start giving us eggs again? Before October, we were getting 3-4 eggs a day from our 4 layers, though now we are down to 3 layers. Is there anything we can do to help them?

They will probably start laying again by the second week in January. That’s exactly what mine are doing right now, I am down to one layer out of nine.

Patience was the virtue! One of my Muscovies started laying New Year's Day! Yay! I miss duck eggs so much. Nothing tastes right anymore.
