Getting Goat kids

Pics
You can use shavings, don't be surprised if you see them eating them initially. Mine act like I gave them a snack. We use a mix of shaving and used hay. We use straw a time or two. I don't think you need to worry about the external parasites living in the straw as they stay on the goat. In chickens many types of mites will just visit the chicken for a meal, and not stay on them constantly.

The jumping up is normal. Pushing may only encourage more rough behaviors as he will think he's playing with you. I turn my back so they get dislodged.

Goats in general will have disrespect for your personal space, mostly the males. Some are better than others. It's why I always carry a walking stick these days when going in the pen with mine. A tap on the nose is sometimes necessary to remind them. Yours are at least smaller, some of my boys are quite big.

BYH does seem to be a ghost town most days. :idunno I don't know where everyone went.
