Getting Goat kids

Pics
Virginia is known for its absurd weather. It's going to be 23°F tonight then by Monday it will be 60°F and then calling for a wintry mix Tuesday. Couldn't be worse timing though I'm hoping to finish the fence and have the goats moved by Sunday afternoon and when it snows I work 14 hour overnight shift. So this will be interesting
Where is Alberta? Just curious I have a ton of family in Canada
We are 20 minutes west of Edmonton, Alberta.
Hopefully you can get your fence complete over the weekend. Tonight we are expecting snow and temperatures dropping again..

have the heavier coat out but broke another banty egg in the pocket :he
When I got my new glasses it took a bit of getting used to them. I was in my Coop collecting eggs and put them in my pocket. Tripped over the lip of the door frame and smashed 5 eggs in my pocket..:sick..:gig

Another question. How many times does a Doe need to be bred normally to become pregnant. I know it can only take one breeding but I mean how many days exposure to a Buck do people put them together..:idunno
I'm not even sure if I'd breed Fancy ever? I'm just curious though..:frow
I've only kept a buck permanently with my does. Generally if you take a doe to a buck one breeding is enough. You than watch for them coming back in heat in three weeks. I'm sure everyone does things differently though.

Okay so what is heat like in a Doe?
Usually you notice the constant screaming first. Lots of tail wagging and discharge. She will get moody and loud. Your wether will probably smell her a lot and probably mount her. Most miniature come in heat from August through January. They tend to be seasonal breeders.
