Getting hot in the UK - worried about my girls

You'd be amazed at how much heat they can actually handle. Last week I moved my baby pool brooder with 14 three day old red cornishXes into a half sunny, half shady spot then went to turn the compost. After only a few minutes it had reached 140 in there and the poor lil guys were freaking out crowding into the shade. No one died but I sure did feel sorry for how they suffered at my stupidity.

I have read here that 100 degrees is their upper limit for comfort and safety. Have no idea how scientific this is. We get to 100 often in the summer; I keep a fan running, and they stay in the shade during the heat of the day.
