Getting my chickens today!

I've wanted to raise chickens forever, and when we bought our house last year we bought a coop and feed, but had to wait on the chickens. Then a friend of mine called and said a woman from her church was having to move, and couldn't take her 5 chickens with her. They're already laying and very used to being handled by people. So today we're going to pick them up! My two little girls are so excited. Any big no-no's to avoid? I've been reading a lot, but welcome more advice!

So exciting! Good luck with your new chickens!
As for no-nos... there aren't actually that many. Chickens are surprisingly hardy creatures. Don't overload them with treats (or else they won't eat their normal food ) and make sure the coop is secure from any predators you have in your area.
