getting my silkie to like me

I got a Partridge Silke rooster yesterday. He is calm, but when I try to pet him he runs away. How can I get him to be more friendly?

Handle him each day for a few minutes. The more you handle him the more 'tame' they will become....(usually).

My silkie runs away to and when you pick him up he carries on like you are killing HIm LOL I dont know i got him when he was already 9 mons old. I hope when i hatch silkie eggs and raise them myself they will be more calm around us.

Sit on the floor with them and let them just walk all over you- you are less threatening that way

I've raised 3 silkies from eggs. One of my cockerals always ran and screeched no matter how much I handled him, but the other one, and the female were lovely and tame.
I think personality has a lot to do with it, but treats help a big deal
