i couldn't take it anymore! raising chicks from day old waiting for months for an egg! i broke down and bought 5 australorps that have been laying for a while now (year old). i have heard it make take them a while to get used to their new home and won't lay during this period. how long should i expect this to last? when my dad got into raising chickens he bought white leghorns and they laid the next day, however he bought them from a neighbor 1 mile down the road, and they weren't overly stressed. the chickens i bought 40 miles away and was in a large cage for 3 hours while i did some work to introduce them to their new home. i know that had to be somewhat stressful on them.
