Getting New Ducklings

Hi everybody!

I am picking up ducklings from Tractor supply today. I will line a box with pine chips and place it in a wired closed cage with a heat light clip. Any suggestions on getting started (ie starter feed, etc.)

I give my ducklings gamebird starter or grower.
Something like a meatbird feed or all flock.

What kind of ducks? Our pekins are almost a year old and the drake is getting ornery. If keeping a mixed flock, I'd definitely recommend females if you can. Our girl pekin has layed every day for going on a month. She's a machine!

I’m not picky. Just a variety that will get along with my six chickens.

Duckling bins are notorious for being mislabeled, just so you know. The only way to guarantee close to 100% sexing would be to mail order. I've heard that many places, the varieties that can be sexed at hatching send all their males to places like Tractor Supply.

Got it! I did not purchase from Tractor Supply because they don't do sexing.
