getting new hens... how big an area?

I'm going to be adding about 3-4 hens to my flock of four. I know they need to be separated for a while, but I'm not sure how big an area to make their temporary enclosure? What's a good guide for that?

A good guide is at least 10sq feet per bird for the larger breed adults that are confined all the time.
