Our 31 red sex links, ready to lay arrived on Wednesday and we have so far got 3 eggs, on each day, It looks like more and more hens are going in and out of the nests so we are hoping that more start to lay. We are so happy and they seem to be very happy and love the very large coop. 27 by 17ft leaves lots of room for the 31 girls. I guess I`m doing my own egg song. I heard that today for the first time.

It won't be long before you will be overrun with eggs, but aren't they great? And it probably won't be long before chicken math kicks in and you decide you have plenty of room for more.

I`ve been reading on here about the egg song, the dust baths, pilling on top of each other, We plan on hanging some cow bells and let them peck at them for a while. They just love to peck and anything tin that will make sound. I`m really enjoying our chickens. The only problem we have so far is getting our boarder collie to come in. He sits outside by the door and spends most of the day watching out for them.

We have a centre part of the barn doing nothing and it`s 30 by 20. We are still figuring out what to put in there. I`m leaning towards turkeys or meat chickens. Anna my wife wants a pony. Time will tell, Will wait till next year if we get anything else to entertain us.
