I'm new to keeping ducks. We bought a new home earlier this year and we have a 3 acre pond we'd love to have ducks to enjoy! A couple questions ...

We're looking at starting with Blue Swedish ducklings. Is it best to start with all ducklings? Or should we find a couple adults as well?

Do different breeds of ducks get a long well, or should we keep it to one? Would love to have a couple white pekin as well.

We have 2 wild geese and three goslings that live on our pond and neighbor's pond at the moment - one of the geese seems to have an injured foot - so not sure if they are permanent or will move on. Do you think we have to worry about them and our ducks?

I would start with ducklings. Yes, they are a lot of work, but they will imprint on you and you're likely to bond better. That's not to say that you can't bond with adults, it's just that its easier with ducklings. Different breeds are usually fine with each other though there are some breeds that are friendlier with others. I would just get them all as ducklings and raise them together. I'm not sure about the geese. You typically don't move ducklings out of the brooder until much older so it's quite possible that by then the geese will have moved on.
