. We decided to hatch some more chicks this year, but it has been a nightmare! We ended up with 2 mixed bo/red sex links, 2 polish top hats, a silkie, a frizzle and a blue bantam. Well I ended up with a polish roo and a blue bantam roo. The silkie may be a roo, but still not sure. Someone is plucking my poor frizzle's back and tail feathers. I can't tell who it is, but I went away for 2 days and when I came back she is BALD from the middle of her back down! She literally looks like a chicken you would buy from the grocery store. She has lots of shade in her pen, but she is getting slightly fried by the sun. The other polish top hat hen is now starting to miss some of her feathers above her tail as well. Does anyone know how to stop the pecking and what I can put on the frizzle to protect her from the sun?

You can buy aprons to protect your girls. I have seen them offered by all the ads on this site. If you are good with a needle, you can make them yourself. Good luck!

I think they come in all sizes. I bet you could make one and use Velcro to attach it.
