getting ready for shows next year

hi i want to show one of my chickens mabey 2 nxt year and was wondering what i have to work on like is their any things they have to do i am very new to showing and not sure what to do i need help lol

Occasionally put them into a show cage and feed them some nice treats. Then they won't be upset by the cage at the show.

If you want to do extra work, you could teach them to accept a bath.

If the birds are for 4-H they will have to learn to be hand posed on a table. Open shows are usually judged in the cage (except for Runner ducks).

Handle them. When the judges are choosing between a couple nice birds, they are going to manipulate the wings and tail. I suspect in youth shows the response of the bird to handling will count for as much as it's genetics/appearance. Youth shows are about your knowledge, bearing, and the condition of your bird.
