Getting ready to build a duck pond....

Op your stream story sounds a lot like mine. Which would be why I no longer have one lol. have a 2500 gallon koi pond, and have enough trouble keeping it clean with just the fish. It will be getting a fence this season. Duckie hates it cause butters the foot long koi nibbles her toes, but the new duckies I plan on getting might not care.

I have the stuff to make a small ducks only pond, but until I come up with a duck capacity filtration system, it is staying in the box. Duckie has a kiddie pool, and seems satisfied with it.

So anyone who has come up with a good filter, please share. Thanks.

Based on my research, a combination of a settling tank, skippy filter, and plant-based filtration is the most effective way to make duck-level filtration. That and frequent removal of solids.

wow!! the pond is looking great!!

I want something like this when I get my ducks, but without the stream/waterfall!!

I'm actually thinking about revising my design a little. The liner keeps springing little leaks here and there. Here in the dry Arizona desert, the ground soaks up the water like a sponge so I'm losing more and more water on a daily basis, it seems. Anyway, I'm thinking about pulling out the liner and pouring in concrete. I will put a bucket of something in the bottom for the pump to go in, that way when I drain it into the garden I can use the hose to spray it all down into the drain. Then when I refill it it will be sparkling clean. For 30 seconds before the ducks get in it. Haha.
