Getting ready to start - have some concerns

Thanks for your welcome, this is not going well.

So now it is after midnight, I have spent hours reading "introducing chickens to flocks" threads. But I don't have a flock. I did gleam that tiny needs a place to hide, so I just went outside and put a rectangular wire basket into the coop laying it on it's side. I hope she can hide there tomorrow. I saw tiny sitting in a corner, not on a perch. I better get some sleep I need to get up in 5 hours.

So, do you have a cat carrier?? I'd put Tiny in there in morning with enough food and water. I'd then put the carrier inside the coop. It may take a while for them to work out there pecking order which can get pretty ugly. So, best to intro them slowly.

No, I am allergic to cats, so I don't have one.

But - lucky me, when I got home from work they were best of friends, eating together :

Boy, was I relieved! I am sure the tiny chicken (we call her ChickenLittle) is just as relieved. Now I need to know what to do when I get the other replacement chickens. She is the size of a pigeon!

A new crisis - ChickenLittle is sick, what should I do?

She is wheezing and has liquidity yellow poop, what should I do?

Thanks for your reply, Sumi, but it is too late. She died last night. I actually thought she was getting better, she had stopped wheezing was eating and looked like she wasn't drinking as much. I hope whatever she had didn't infect the sole remaining chicken.

Raising chickens is NOT fun. I don't know how much more of this I can take.

I went through a bad patch last year when, for numerous reasons, we lost quite a few chickens. I was ready to get rid of the remainder of my flock! I couldn't take it anymore either. But when things go well they make up for the bad patches. I really hope this was the last of your bad luck and things will go well for you from now on

Thank you so much for your support. I am so new at this, and was full of high hopes that it would work for me, but to lose these poor chickens so early in the game is so hard for me. I feel like my lack of experience is putting these chickens at risk, I am expecting 2 more this weekend, I am going to disinfect the coop this Friday, but if the survivor is infected the newcomers will get it too.
I just feel so bad about all of this. I have had dogs for years and they all made it well past old age. These chickens I can't even keep alive for more than 2 weeks.
