Getting really stressed out 😩

My sweet sweet little 3 week old runt seems to have impacted crop. It’s a hard ball in her throat. I tried forcing her to eat as much coconut oil as I can but she doesn’t really want it. I’ve also been giving her intermittent massages trying to push the food down. She’s pooping and eating and drinking. Doesn’t really seem like she’s in discomfort. I’m so afraid she’s going to die and idk what to do they hadn’t had anything but chick crumble but they all peck at the bedding. I’m thinking since she’s so small that’s why she’s having a harder time digesting, this is day 3. Picture to see how tiny she is compared to her brood mates.

What is the bedding?

The bedding is just pellets, I think horse technically? But all my chicken friends said that’s what I should get. I will pick up some plain yogurt tomorrow and see if that helps. Their grit says it has probiotics in it.

Just breaks my heart she had spraddle leg when we got her and it took a lot of energy for her to move around and we corrected it and she’s been doing so much better

Most people use pine shavings for brooder bedding. If you chill a little coconut oil, you can cut it into small pieces that she can peck. Chick’s crop tend to eat and feel full round the clock if they have a lamp on. Can you try to massage it downward gently a few times a day, and make sure to dip her beak in water a few times after, so will have plenty of fluids. Some use a little molasses orally to work as a laxative. Make sure that she is pooping, and not pasted up.
