I am new to this site, thanks for having me. I have a Rooster and 6 hens. Unfortunately I did not get them as babies, so not able to pick them up without chasing/corning/creating awful havoc lol. With the way they are picking and scratching there's obviously an issue. I don't want to use anything that will hurt them. I found this product on Amazon for fleas in the house and wondering if anyone has used it in their coops? Victor M231 Ultimate Flea Trap. I've heard it's extremely effective in the home, so hoping might work in the coop!

It's probably actually mites that they have.... Diatomaceous Earth, food grade, for dusting in helps, as well as wood ash.. Check their legs and feet and see if you can see any little tiny bugs, I guess the best description is they look like fleas ;)

Immediate relief can be obtained with permethrin based repellants or natural oils like rosemary or peppermint...

I don't use toxins, but some people seem to like Sevin. Choice is yours :)

Hi Welcome to BYC! Fleas rarely are on chickens (there are only 3-5 species I know of) Lice and Mites can effect chickens and cause irritation. To know for sure I would examine your chickens. If you can't catch them try it at night when they are roosting, just make sure to check with a flashlight.

I agree. Check them over for lice and mites and follow treatment protocol. Searching "lice" and "mites" in the BYC search box (like Drumstick Diva suggested) is a great place to start.
