I've only had my chickens for 2 weeks, and I also tried one of the 'dead body' fly traps. And yes, it did attract more flies, and bigger, uglier ones, too. I use DE in the run, scoop poo from the shavings in the coop, and hung a vanilla tree where the birds can't get it. I'll have maybe 3 or 4 flies at a time. I guess if I hang more trees, there would be even less. I think the combo of the DE plus the tree really did the trick. And it doesn't smell, either!
