Getting rid of my incubator!!!!!

Finally I am free!!

Buying 2 silkie roos(one black and one white) and three silkie hens(one white and two black) tomorrow.

This means I have 5 confirmed mother hens in the coop,and 3 silkie hens for my quail eggs.

NO MORE INCUBATORS AND NO MORE BROODER BOXES!!!

Yeah!!!! Let nature do all my hatching from now on!!

Ive waited for this moment, dreamed of it,drooled over it

,almost sacrificed my kids for it.

No more constrained by the tangles of monstrous energy conglomerates.

I AM FREE!!!!

It's a good feeling isn't it? I have never owned an incubator but have thought about getting one. But at the end of the day, I prefer letting my girls do all of the work. It's such a free feeling. You don't have to worry about humidity, moisture, temperature and all of the other headaches that come along with an incubator. My girls hatched close to 100 chicks in 2010. I will be expecting the same numbers if not more in 2011.

This is funny. I just made one for myself. My broody, didn't go broody until July and hence I am now in a one-egg-a-day (if that) situation. We have been eggless since early Nov. through until New Year's Day. So.... I need more control of this situation. Funny that you would be so happy to quit, while I am looking forward to experimenting.

Maybe I am a little bewitched, however we do have 5 proven mother hens from last years hatches.What I was drooling over is these silkie hens who will sit on eggs for my quail. I still will have my incubator...in da back...collecting dust.....along with my brooder box.....

Congrats! That is wonderful.

But--my issue with natural hatching (which I've never done, btw--just incubators) is I don't think I could stand to take the babies away from the mother to sell them... how do you deal with that?
