Hello All
I have been getting some small eggs the last few days. I have a serama hen but she has never lay a egg so small before and I have been get a egg from her ever few days, I don't know if it is her or one of the big girls? I opened them up and the smaller one is dry on the inside and it was the first I found and the other has the whites but no yoke. I'll let you know if I get anymore like them. Enjoy Dennis

I took the pictures with some of my Welsummers and RIR eggs so you can see the size of them

Those are little bitty ones!
Little eggs can come from a couple of different reasons:
1. Pullets that are just starting to lay and haven't quite got things in order may lay tiny or yolkless eggs.
2. Sometimes a bit of tissue sloughs off of the oviduct (like with a meat spot) and it will get covered on the way down just like egg material does.
3. Older hens that are in high production may lay a regular egg, and then have another one or a bit of one coming right along after it within a few hours.
The few I've had have always been when the hens start gearing up in the spring - I just got one yesterday!
I read once that in the olden days people used to call them "cock eggs" because they thought that roosters laid them -
