Getting some silkie chicks today!

A month ago, I purchased a silkie rooster, Steve. I decided that I would like to raise silkie chicks, so today I'm going to buy Steve some girlfriends. Once they are full grown, I plan on keeping them in my smaller coop where they won't have to be bullied by my bigger girls. Is it okay to keep Steve with the silkies? He's really a calm, sweet boy. Can he be in the same coop with babies when they start hatching chicks? Although I've had chickens for 4 years, I have never tried to breed them

It should be ok I would think as long as they have plenty of space. But I really don't no cause I've never actually raised a roo with my hens but my cousin did. He did it the other way around though, he already had the hens and then added a really mean aggressive roo.
