Getting started in Archery

So Im looking to spen a good $200-300 on a bow?

I think I want to take someone with me who knows what they are talking about and looking for when I go to look around.
All that new talk will just have me confused and my head spinning in the store

Find an archery club in your area. They can talk you through it and also SHOW you what's what.
Having someone with you will help prevent you from getting "last year's stock"
Archery shops want you to enjoy your new sport so you'll come back and buy more stuff, But the are still retailers and they have one purpose in life--move merchandise--. Don't get cought up in the sales pitch on this or that but get a bow YOU are comfortable with, not what he is comfortable with selling you.

The FNG at my target range was all proud of his shiny new recurve. It was a lesser known "brand" but it was an almost exact duplicate of mine. After a day or two I let him borrow mine, after about three arrows he was hitting dead center at 25yd shot after shot. with his bow I could barely hit the target hay bails. So I gave it to some who can REALLY shoot, she shot one time and handed it back with a look like she had seen a rat....

He took the bow back that day. We thought he just couldn't shoot, but the bow was hosed. He fell for the salesman pitch on how he can't keep these in the store, but he just got some in etc... The store had so many because they are horrible and no one would buy them.
