Ok I have been reading this thread for a week now and I am only up to page 300... of 1292... I'm never going to catch up.

But I too am addicted to the tale... **** it's like a good book.... anyhow I shall persevere. (Don't spoilt anything).

We have had quite a roller coaster with our electricity bill.

Up to around Feb this year, we had consistant bills of around $40 per month when we were away from the farm that would jump to $100 when we were there and using the A/C and hot water for a few weeks.

Our March bill was $12. We figured a missread and were expecting big bill in April. Not so. $10. May $11. Something was up.

In June it was $160. Finally we though that the meter reader was actually reading the meter. Then in July it was $200. Ok now we have a problem. We called the electrical company and they sent someone out. The Meter was replaced with a digital meter.

We now have somebody from our team checking the meter every week.






We pay a US$0.25 per kilowatt (ouch) - more than double the price we pay in Cali.

Our bills are back to the $70-90 per month range.

I am not sure what the heck happened to drop our bills to almost free theh to skyrocket but now we have the ability to track it.

We even talk to those from RSA. @sumi passes by every now and then. She is an RSA deserter LOL.

Mrs Oz and I drove from Jo'burg to Kruger for a week, then over to Maputo in Mozambique to dip our feet in the west side of the Indian Ocean. That was quite the experience!

Hahaha yes well... seems the southern hemisphere folk are always at odds when it comes to sport. 3rd in rugby wasn't bad though (behind NZ and Aus)... but we will get there one day.
I too was once a deserter and lived waaay up north on mud island (uk) but alas I suck at it and the pull to come home was too great.
Glad you got to experience our lovely country... africa at its best. I live slightly further south of Durban so in a semi tropic region.. but nowhere near your kind of tropic

ok back to page 301 I go.... I feel like a sneaky kid. My hubby and 3 yr old son are asleep next to me and I'm sitting here reading..... totally enthralled. I hope I manage to catch up!
